Essential Eight Assessment
Client-Side Project Management
About the Client
Lalli Consulting Engineers is a Perth-based structural engineering consultancy working across residential, commercial and government projects in Western Australia. Its work places a strong emphasis on practical documentation, responsive delivery and collaboration across clients, builders and project stakeholders.
Engagement Summary
Lalli engaged Arvanic to assess its current Essential Eight position and establish a practical pathway toward its desired maturity target.
Arvanic completed the current-state assessment, identified priority gaps and developed the uplift roadmap. From there, Arvanic identified the specialist capabilities required, coordinated the engagement of external contractors and technology providers and managed the uplift project through implementation.
Technical configuration was completed by the relevant specialist providers. Arvanic retained responsibility for assessment, requirements, governance, coordination and overall delivery management.
The Context
Lalli needed more than a point-in-time cyber review. The business required a clear understanding of how the Essential Eight controls were operating in practice and what would be required to progress toward its target state.
The engagement needed to address both assessment and delivery:
- Establish the current Essential Eight position.
- Identify the controls and dependencies limiting maturity.
- Translate findings into clear remediation priorities.
- Develop a roadmap toward the agreed target state.
- Determine which specialist capabilities were required.
- Coordinate external providers responsible for technical implementation.
- Maintain visibility of risks, actions, ownership and progress.
Arvanic's Role
Arvanic acted as the client-side assessment and delivery lead, helping Lalli understand its Essential Eight position and coordinate the activities needed to uplift it.
Current-State Assessment
Assessed the relevant environment against the Essential Eight maturity model and documented the current implementation position.
Roadmap Development
Converted assessment findings into a structured uplift roadmap with defined priorities, sequencing and dependencies.
Provider Coordination
Identified the required technical capabilities and coordinated the engagement of suitable external contractors and specialist providers.
Delivery Management
Managed the uplift project through implementation, maintaining visibility of actions, risks, dependencies, responsibilities and progress.
What Changed
The engagement gave Lalli a structured path from assessment through to implementation.
- Current-state findings were documented against the Essential Eight requirements.
- Priority control gaps and remediation needs were identified.
- A roadmap was established toward the agreed target state.
- Specialist providers were aligned around defined implementation requirements.
- Delivery risks, dependencies and actions remained visible throughout the uplift.
- Lalli established a stronger basis for continued Essential Eight improvement and future reassessment.
Arvanic's Perspective
An Essential Eight assessment is only useful if the findings can be translated into practical action.
For Lalli, the assessment informed the roadmap, the roadmap informed the required delivery capability, and Arvanic remained involved through provider coordination and implementation oversight. This allowed the work to progress as a governed delivery program rather than a disconnected set of technical remediation tasks.
Evidence-led assessment. Clear priorities. Coordinated delivery.
